Missions

As a part of the landscape of the Durham/Orange County community, we want to be more than just another building. We want to move out from these walls and into the streets and serve the greater needs of the Triangle and surrounding community. COMMUNITY IMPACT is an opportunity for groups at New Horizon Church to get involved in community service. We've formed partnerships with several non-profit organizations that focus on meeting specific needs in the Triangle area.  We're asking every small group to serve twice a year with one of our community partners.

Do you have to be in a group to serve?
The immediate answer is “no”. If you’re not in a group, we hope working along-side group members will result in relationships which will connect you to a small group. We’re serious about our groups and believe that growth occurs best in the context of community.

The Durham Rescue Mission is achieving there goal  to share the gospel of Jesus Christ as they minister to the homeless and addicted in central North Carolina.

Local School Partnerships

C. C. Spaulding School located in Durham &           Central Elementary School located in Hillsborough

Our desire is to impact the lives of people on an ongoing basis. We’ve adopted the students and their families, as well  as the faculty at C. C. Spaulding School, located in downtown Durham and Central Elementary, located in Hillsborough. For several years we have provided every child (400 children in 2012) with a new backpack, full of needed supplies. This year, 50 students at Central would not have been able to start school because they owned not shoes.  We provided 50 new pair of shoes. 175 families with children attending C. C. Spaulding enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal due to the generosity of our church families.  There are many opportunites to serve these families.

  • host a baby shower
  • provide refreshments for volunteer training
  • provide a meal for a new mom
  • clean the PSS facility after hours
